Grifols showcases its regional plasma supply platform at first Africa Health ExCon

  • Conference helps put the spotlight on advances by Grifols Egypt for Plasma Derivatives, a landmark public-private alliance to reach self-sufficiency in plasma medicines 
  • The first donor center, in Cairo, is fully operational, with 19 more slated for opening over the next 18 months, while the design has begun on manufacturing facilities
     

June 5, 2022 - Grifols (MCE: GRF, MCE: GRF.P, NASDAQ: GRFS), one of the world’s leading producers of plasma-derived medicines with a more than a 110-year track record of contributing to the health and well-being of people around the world, and the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) in Egypt highlighted their joint initiative to develop a world-class regional plasma infrastructure during the first Africa Health ExCon.

The forum, held June 5-7 in Cairo, was organized by the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement, Medical Supply, and the Management of Medical Technology (UPA) under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. 

President El-Sisi, in attendance, visited the Grifols exhibit where the company featured its progress in building a fully integrated plasma supply platform to achieve self-sufficiency in plasma-derived medicines and strengthen Egypt’s healthcare system.

Grifols executives spoke during multiple sessions, covering various aspects of the Grifols-Egypt initiative.

The first donor center, in Cairo, is fully operational. Another 19 are scheduled to be completed and opened by the end of 2023. The design has begun on the manufacturing facilities, including a plant to fractionate individual plasma proteins with a capacity to process 1 million plasma liters yearly which is expected to double.
